The Baxter County Master Gardeners program will host its annual “Developing an Ozarks Green Thumb” seminar Saturday, March 14, at the First Baptist Church Christian Life Center, 1205 Spring St. in Mountain Home.
Doors open at 8 a.m. and the program runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event features four presentations from regional horticulture specialists. Scott Beuerlein, manager of botanical garden outreach at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, will present twice — opening with a session on plant diversity and closing with a talk making the case for annuals. Kelly McGowan, a field specialist in horticulture with University of Missouri Extension, will speak on pollinators and native plants. Christopher Cooper, Ph.D., county director of UT-TSU Extension in Shelby County, will cover integrated pest management strategies for home gardeners.

The seminar also includes a horticulture table, Master Gardener project displays and a silent auction featuring garden-themed items. Snacks and drinks will be provided throughout the day, with lunch catered by The Grill at Whispering Woods.

The seminar is presented by the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture Research and Extension.
