Cut off the dead from the bougainvillea and it will grow back slowly!! It will be sad to see it so small again but it will come back!

AZ native here, the bougainvillea WILL return. You could rip them out of the ground and they’d still come back! Pruning will help a lot with the summer

Your bougainvillea will come back with new growth from the bottom, you just cut back all the dead, and by the end of the season they will be huge.
