Hey All! I'm soliciting witness slips from IL residents to support a prohibition of use of neonicotinoids on ornamentals. A witness slip is your way as a member of the public to put on record your support or opposition to a bill. The photo on this post is a simple "how to" to fill out the witness slip. A link to the slip for this bill is below.

State Senator Julie Morrison (D) is sponsoring a bill to prohibit use of neonics on ornamental plants. She is the sponsor of this bill and official text linked here: https://ilga.gov/Legislation/BillStatus/FullText?GAID=18&DocNum=3200&DocTypeID=SB&LegId=165880&SessionID=114

Here is the bill summary: Amends the Illinois Pesticide Act. Provides that, beginning July 1, 2027, a pesticide containing a neonicotinoid may not be used on an ornamental plant, except in accordance with specified restrictions. Specifies that "restricted use pesticide" includes any pesticide that contains a neonicotinoid unless applied by a licensed applicator or certified technician working in structural pest control. Defines "neonicotinoid", "ornamental plant", and "zoophilous species". Grants rulemaking powers to the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Public Health, and the Environmental Protection Agency. Effective immediately.

PLEASE FILL OUT THE WITNESS SLIP HERE as a PROPONENT by 8 am Thursday March 12 : Instructions are in the photo.

SB3200 is now in the Agriculture Committee which is a powerful committee and should it be heard during the session on 3.12, it may have a good chance of going to the full senate session for debate.

For extra credit, reach out to your state senator and ask them to "CO-SPONSOR" the bill.

I don’t see an option to fill out a slip – probably user error
