I want more Mediterranean or filler plants added. But I have decision fatigue. This area gets full daytime sun. I’m in southern California. What should I add in the empty dirt spots? Also I am constantly picking weeds where the exposed dirt is so I think more plants are needed.

Those plants are gonna grow. Give it time. Add natural bark or medium mexican pebble rock to close gaps.

You need space for the plants to grow as you shouldn’t fill every inch of spaces with plants. At the moment it’s enough for the space you have. Using decorative pebble rocks, can be white or pine bark to fill the space to keep weed from growing and maintain humidity of the soil.

Maybe add some silver ponyfoot and Mexican sedum as ground covers.

Some larger boulders would help. It’s going to all grow so if you add maybe only do native annuals that won’t reseed.

I’m in So Cal also. It’s a lot of basics but simple is kind of nice. I have a lot of designers whose work is repetitive and boring and I think this solid. I am not a big rose guy myself but when blooming that will be a nice inclusion. I wouldn’t jam in more plants just to stop weeds. Find some preemergent like Amaze and let these plants fill in.

Looks nice and tidy. Just add some gorilla hair or nugget mulch. If no mulch then you’ll have a bunch of weeds filling in those spaces nicely lol

You don’t need more plants, you need more time 🙂
Plants will grow and take up that space. You will wish for more space

Nope. You need a top dressing. I’d do brown lava rock.

I can see the edge of the rose’s potting soil. The surface roots will dry up if you don’t bring the bed level up to meet it. It would also appreciate a layer of mulch.

The plants will fill in over time. I would recommend a green mulch (living ground cover). I’m not sure what plant works best for your zone.

I don’t mind the plants as others have said. Something about the rocks is throwing me off though. They look so random, like you just grabbed them from a random drainage trench. Mulch it, remove some of those random smaller rocks, and rearrange the bigger ones.
