Stinging nettle growing with my monstera?! How in the heck?

I'm not well versed in monsteras, so when I noticed this growing I thought it might be just what baby leaves look like, since it appeared to be growing directly from the plant base. Yesterday I went to move her, and held on to the stem as I did for stability, and was surprised by a nasty prick. Felt like I was gouged by a rose thorn, but no visible entry. So, I used the plant identifier to check out it… How?! This has been in my house for years, and we don't live in a region that has stinging nettles in the wild. This is nuts!
