  1. I grew a second round of tomatoes this year too, also in pots and near the house so they’d have afternoon shade. Also tried using shade cloth out in the garden and everything did better, even peppers and eggplants. I now have shade cloth over the broccoli and lettuce and they seem to like it. May remove it now that things are cooling off a bit.

  2. Nice.
I used to grow large vegetables in pots, but as you've discovered they don't do their best in pots. I've started growing in straw bales, much easier, better crops, more healthy.

  3. use 20 gallon cloth grow bags, they allow good air flow preventing rot and disease, but also dry in between waterings to avoid overwatering…

Its been a good variety for me, I like the taste. Some years better than others. But seriously use bigger containers

Use smoked salt, basil mozarella for a great salad. Yes I agree it makes a great sauce skins and all.

  4. I led thgrpup who designed eden.
Nvr stake tmato grow prosteate in soil mulch a foot deep do not touch th tomato plant I use bottom of pond water mulch pile above drains brown tea in2 water I rot ANY green leafy weedz leafs in water apply foliar &roots 2plant.

Thick walled shelf life tomatoes that PRODUCE.
    How 2REALLY gro thm:
Grow them PROSTRATE let them branch on cool ground nvr stake shade th soil save water no drying influence in hot wind staked up there in that hottest air.
Single stalk pruned out chopped up stake = by far worse way gro tomato… AND, THIS is precisely how latest "Master Gardnrz" lunatics are promoting all over You Tube it is all upside down

Their all Satnz kidz& thoze who 5star review thm teach u 2fail in gardening.

Light color, orange reflects light keeps fruit cool prevents tomato cooking, hence dying rotting steaming splitting rot on th vine.. death alwayz attracts bugz.
Do NOT single stalk prune away foilage tomato like th latest gardnrz teach.
Ask th tomato YOU? For yr part? ..are not gonna improve upon thway a tomato plant designed engineered 2PROSTRATE gro.
You ARE gonna improve tomato flavor production MASSIVELY by adding 5' x 5' 8" thick mulch2 build blacken keep cool yr soil like I invented my 1st garden.
Bottom of pond water best but rainwater only NEVER Satnz tap water.
Rot ANY leafy green weedery in water few dayz apply as feed.
If u can gro ONE 17' tomato like I did my vry 1st garden, then u will hav arrived in all thingz &in EVERY plant.

  5. The tomato plant (imo) suffered from infrequent irrigation. Having a media that holds more water and that has proper aeration ( perlite), may have helped your situation. A cover of mulch ( I couldn’t tell if it was there) would also keep moisture in the soil.

You are one of the few growers that recognizes veg stage separate from bloom/flowering 🫡🫡🫡 most channels just dump everything and hope for the best 😂😂😂
