HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) – Spring is in full bloom at the Hattiesburg Botanical Garden.

This is the garden’s third week being open this year.

Typically, their spring season is about 6 weeks long, but the owners say they’re planting some summer seeds as well to extend this year’s season.

Although the colors of tulips and other spring bulbs will dim soon, xenias, sunflowers, gladiolas, dahlias and other wildflowers will be available soon.

This year, the Hattiesburg Botanical Garden is also spearheading a fundraiser to make bouquet building accessible for everyone.

“We’re trying to raise $10,000 to put in a wheelchair accessible bed for seniors, veterans and kids who are in wheelchairs so that they can come up and explore and enjoy a garden without barriers,” said Nicholas Adams, owner of the garden. “So they can plant, they can enjoy and eventually take home plantings and stuff and we can do different courses.”

The garden is open 7 days a week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Entry is $5, and bouquets are $2 per stem.
