Many people take immense pride in their gardens, relishing the time and effort they spend making them look as good as possible. From maintaining a neatly trimmed lawn to selecting the ideal flowers and shrubs, many derive pleasure from seeing their hard work and visions materialise. However, if you fall behind on your gardening tasks for any reason, it can seem quite daunting to restore it to its former glory.

As a result, some might choose to splash out a bit of extra cash to help rejuvenate their gardens. This was the case for one 76-year-old woman who found her garden had become overgrown and unruly, simply too much for her to manage.

However, she was soon quoted a whopping £3,000 for the garden tidy-up, a price many deemed ‘over-priced’. That’s when a kind-hearted gardener named Mike stepped in to make a difference.

Rather than charging the pensioner an exorbitant fee for the work, he chose to spruce up her garden entirely free of charge.

The only thing he requested in return was permission to document the transformation on his TikTok account, Garden Yardz Mowin, to share the results with his 33,300 followers.

At the beginning of the video, he showcased the garden in question, featuring a paved patio where tufts of grass were sprouting between the stone slabs. This led out to a patch of grass that had grown to waist height.

A narrow pathway could be seen meandering through the garden, leading to another paved section.

Mike wasted no time getting stuck in, beginning by cutting down the overgrown grass and creating beautifully neat stripes. He then deployed a leaf blower to uncover the hidden pathway beneath, which had been buried under the freshly cut turf.

The footage then jumped to the transformed garden, which was immaculately trimmed with all the excessive growth cleared away.

The space immediately appeared brighter and primed for proper use once more. In the touching post’s caption, Mike revealed: “76-year-old woman quoted £3,000 for her garden. So I did it for FREE.”

Viewers quickly flooded the comments section to commend Mike for his generous gesture, with several questioning how others could justify charging such an ‘extortionate’ amount for the work.

One commenter posted: “How can someone justify £3,000 just to cut the grass an take the waste away! The greed of some people, well done for helping this lady.” Another observer remarked: “There are some decent people left in this world, thank you for that.”

This isn’t Mike’s first complimentary garden makeover, as he’s regularly spotted assisting people with their neglected outdoor spaces. In another recent upload, Mike revealed one 91-year-old had been quoted more than £1,000 for a modest garden revamp – which he volunteered to complete without charge, with the clip showing him trimming the lawn and pruning overgrown shrubbery.

Just as with this video, viewers lauded Mike for his generosity and dedication, with comments such as: “Thank you top man if we all help our elderly or friends.” Another viewer chimed in, saying: “I knew there were kind people in this world, and you are one of them.”
