The lighter evenings are creeping in, meaning spring is on the way. That means it’s the perfect time to start thinking about sprucing up outdoor spaces, and Dunelm has already got a head start.

The high street favourite has unveiled its latest garden furniture collection, and there’s one piece in particular that’s caught our eye: the Helsinki Lounger (£35). Designed with lazy days in mind, the adjustable chair lets shoppers recline at their preferred angle, whether it’s sitting up with a book or stretching out for a snooze.

The lounger is available in three soothing shades (green, blue and charcoal grey), making it easy to slot into everything from leafy garden corners to pared-back patio schemes. It comes with a built-in headrest for added comfort.

Plus, the chair arrives fully assembled, meaning it can be lifted straight out of the box and popped onto the patio without wrestling with instructions. And for upkeep, a simple wipe-down with a damp cloth will keep it looking fresh.

It’s worth investing in a cosy blanket for when it gets a bit chilly outside, and another cushion for back support wouldn’t go amiss. A parasol is a good option as well, for protection from the sun when it gets particularly hot.

Dunelm isn’t the only high-street retailer unveiling its garden furniture early. M&S also has a stylish range online, including this sweet Venice Bistro Garden Set (£199) that’s stackable and foldable for easy storage.

Otherwise, Habitat has a huge outdoor collection to choose from. Some is already on sale, too, such as this Habitat x Scion 4 Seater Metal Garden Sofa Set, now £182 from £260.

Back to the Helsinki Lounger, it’s had plenty of great reviews already. This happy shopper said: “Very comfortable, I’ve had one before and they are well worth the money. I love the super colours they have for the summer.”

Meanwhile, a second piped up: “I’ve bought two of your loungers. Super comfy, sturdy, and well-made. Would recommend.” And someone else noted: “

However, it isn’t all good news. Some reviewers have complained that the loungers have faded in direct sunlight over time, so it might be worth storing them away when not in use.

On a brighter note, this person claimed it was great to take on camping trips: “Such a great chair to take camping. It’s sturdy, comfy with an adjustable headrest, and folds flat.”

And another chimed in: “Good quality for the price. Easy to fold and put away.”
