Discover the surprising world of pansies! 🌸 In this video, I share what I learned from ‘Pansies’ by Brenna Estrada and how these flowers can be grown as perennials, cut flowers, and even edible blooms. You’ll learn tips on starting pansies from seed, extending bloom time, pairing them with other flowers like sweet peas, how to increase the stem length for cut flowers, and keeping them healthy through spring and fall. I’ll also talk about protecting your garden from rabbits and my plans to overwinter pansies for earlier blooms. If you love gardening, cut flowers, or edible flowers, this book will inspire you to see pansies in a whole new way!

  1. What a fun book read. I love the beautiful illustrations. Thank you for sharing. 😁❤️

I grow pansies from cell packs each fall. I only grow them in pots to avoid slug damage. They do require some dead heading to encourage blooms. They are one of my favorite fall/winter flowers to add cheerful color in the garden.

I hope you do try to grow them from seed. Would love to see a video. 🤗

  2. They are beautiful flowers , I didn’t realize you could grow as perennials if you start in the fall. Also I didn’t realize they were edible . The only edible flowers I’ve had before were nasturtiums and rose.
