this type of medium is used in greenhouses because it retains water so the plants aren’t having to be constantly watered. the medium is fine at nurseries because they have lots of sunlight and air flow. people recommend to repot when you get a new plant because the substrate just doesn’t match their environment. if you have lots of sunlight and air flow available for it then you don’t have to repot at all. i leave lots of my plants in the nursery soil and pot.
