Hello! Last year I purchased a couple dahlia tubers from a local home gardener for the first time and fell in love. I should’ve listened to everyone’s horror stories but thought I’d try my luck with tubers from a big box store this year. I have quite a bit of space and was hoping to fill up as much as I could with dahlias so figured that was my best bet to get more for less and well.. I got what I paid for. Almost all that have sprouted so far are showing obvious gall.
I haven’t had any luck finding anyone with extras on my local FB groups, so I thought I’d check here. Does anyone have any extra tubers they’d be willing to part with either near the Hagerstown Maryland area or willing to ship them? I have $50 via PayPal that I can afford to cover shipping costs/pay for the tubers in general. I know it’s not much but I would appreciate it so much.
Thank you all! Wishing everyone beautiful blooms this season. 🙂
Pic is my intrigue dahlia from last year. 🙂

This is an automatic reminder regarding r/dahlias Rule 3:
When reasonable*, posters should make a good-faith effort to identify which variety/varieties are shown in their photo(s). If you don’t know for certain, please say so. Someone will usually know!
*Common-sense exceptions to this rule will be honored, such as if the photo does not contain a blossom, or if your photo contains large volumes (such as in wide field shots).
If you’ve already done this, thank you! No further action required.
If not, please add a reply to this comment and confirm if you know the name of your dahlia variety/varieties shown in the photo(s). Alternately, if you’re uncertain of the variety name(s), it’s ok to say that, too.

I’m sorry I can’t help with tubers, but there’s been a bit of discussion about growing from seed recently.
Obviously, you can’t get named varieties this way, but they can be quite lovely. Growth is rapid, and then you’ll have tubers in the fall so you can save the ones you like.
I’m sorry, that’s frustrating- there was just a post yesterday [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/dahlias/s/EDczAh5tWm) from someone selling extra tubers at what I thought was a fair price and they had a nice variety. We should start seeing more posts like this as we get further into spring too. I picked up a number of tubers for fairly cheap last year from posts in this sub of people looking to get rid of their excess.
Another good resource is see if there’s a local dahlia society near you – mine does a tuber sale in the spring and they have some really nice varieties for fairly inexpensive.
Greenhill Farm is close to us, they’re in Sharpsburg and grow dahlias. In April they have a flower and poultry swap meet and sell tubers!
