I watered my plant two days ago by leaving it in a container of water for around 30 minutes (bottom watering) until the surface soil seemed damp. But by the next day the soil seemed dry and the leaves were getting more wrinkly/were still wrinkly. I tried poking my bamboo stick through the middle soil and it came out dry. Please help 🙏🙏

to add on: im using purely grit as the soil
These guys are a pain in the butt to persuade to take up water in my experience
I just wanted to comment that this picture makes it look fake, I was bamboozled for a moment
You can top water an anacampseros as well, mine is to be doing fine with it.
I repot all my succs in 100% akadama, akadama takes up water and holds it for a comfortable time for my succs, but it’s chunky enough that doesn’t let water pool or hold for too long anywhere. I also use clay pots because they do hold moisture too.
