
In February, the Dos Valles Garden Club enjoyed an outing to Bill & Lynn Boyett’s protea farm, Sunrise Protea Ranch. They toured the ranch, learned about growing and harvesting proteas, and gained insight into the unique characteristics of these striking South African native flowers.
The Dos Valles Garden Club invites community members to attend its upcoming March General Meeting on Monday, March 10 at 10 a.m. at St. Stephen Community Hall on Cole Grade Road.
Featured speaker will be Roy Wilburn, tomato-growing expert, horticulture manager at Sunshine Care in Poway, and Grangetto’s newsletter columnist. Wilburn will share expert insights on growing healthy, productive tomatoes; offering valuable tips for both beginner and experienced gardeners.
In addition to the March meeting, the club will host a plant sale, free seed giveaway, and community seed swap on March 21, 8 a.m. to noon at Martin Gang Ranch, 28933 Cole Grade Rd. This event offers local gardeners an opportunity to buy plants, exchange seeds, and connect with fellow gardening enthusiasts.
2026 Scholarship Applications Now Open
The Dos Valles Garden Club is also accepting applications for its 2026 Scholarship Awards. Scholarships are available to Valley Center, Pauma Valley, and All Tribes students who are planning or currently pursuing studies in horticulture or other agricultural fields.
