This spider plant had been perfectly healthy and robust for c.4 years. But over the last week its stalks have been wasting away over night, with now only two looking healthy anymore. What's happening to it, and how can I save it?
The plant gets water on the last Friday of each month, which seems to have worked fine for that time. I did notice the soil looking unusually dry this month, and did give it an extra top up as a result. It is in a bright (but north west facing) room, but not in direct sunlight (I have moved it to a southerly facing room during this crisis).
Please help!

have you ever replaced the soil or repotted it in that 4 years?
Firstly, this is not a spider plant. This is some variety of sansevieria.
That is a cultivar of Dracaena angolensia (used to be called Sansevieria cylindrica)
Basically this gal is from an arid part of the world that gets natural drought periods. Do not let it sit in wet soil for longer than it needs to, and let it dry out before watering again. These like to be root bound so let it outgrow the pot a little before transplanting.
I have one i water once every 4-6 weeks.
