With spring finally on its way with the sun in the sky after months of damp and dreary weather, many homeowners are looking forward to spending some more time outside. As such, refreshing the garden is top of many people’s lists.

But pricey new furniture isn’t the only way to spruce up patios and green spaces. An outdoor rug is an underrated hero when it comes to upgrading your space on a budget, and we’ve found one for under £23 that shoppers hail as great for ‘cheering up tired decking’.

HOMESCAPES’ Luxury Outdoor Rug is reduced from £29.99 to £22.99 on Yimbly, a retailer owned by this site’s parent company Reach PLC, and we’ve got a discount code that allows readers to get it for even less. With the code SPRING10, customers can take an extra 10% off, bringing it down to £20.69, making it cheaper than Amazon.

Measuring at 150cm x 240cm, the Ada Botanical rug is large enough to sit under a full patio seating set, or roll out beside a motorhome for those looking to get away this Easter. The green and white tropical leaf print is fresh and on trend, in keeping with a natural, outdoor feel.

Woven from 100% recycled polypropylene, the rug is lightweight, but designed to handle the unpredictable British weather. It’s waterproof, reversible and easy to maintain, with dirt able to be swept away, while spills can easily be washed off.

For those looking for something larger, Debenhams has this XL Waterproof Geometric Rug, which measures 12ft x 9ft. It was £69.99 but has been reduced to £52.50 in the sale.

Elsewhere, Dunelm is offering this Chevron Weave Indoor Outdoor Rug for £29. Measuring 170cm x 120cm, it’s a great way to add cosiness to your living room or your garden setting.

But the HOMESCAPES rug is one of the most affordable we’ve found, with Amazon shoppers suggesting it punches well above its price point, reports North Wales Live.

One campervan owner said: “Really good quality and thickness. Looks fab outside our camper and can be pegged down to stop blowing away. Bright vibrant colours and can be used either way up. Also used outside at a party when the grass needed protecting. Fab outdoor rug easy to clean and dust off, if it gets mucky and highly recommended.”

Another added: “I have this on my decking its absolutely great, I really love the look of it, was a bit apprehensive as it is plastic but it looks lovely.”

“The Ada rug has really cheered up our tired decking for a year now,” said a third. “Despite hot sun, howling winds, rain, and inches of snow, it’s still totally intact and vibrant.”

There are a couple of minor downsides to consider. One reviewer mentioned excess plastic packaging, which may frustrate more eco-conscious shoppers.

They said: “Great product for a great price. This is the second rug I have purchased from Homescapes and I am more than happy with my goods. My friends are impressed and are looking to buy their own so all in all a great little product.

Delivery was hassle free and prompt but if I had to make one slight criticism, not for the product or delivery but for the fact as with most products bought online it comes with too much plastic packaging.”

“Lovely outdoor rug, dries in seconds if it gets wet ideal for outside spaces,” another five-star review said, with a different customer commenting: “Just what was needed to cover section of unattractive, cracked concrete patio and for setting out garden chairs and little table.”

At £20.69 with the discount code SPRING10 applied at Yimbly, it’s a budget-friendly way to elevate outdoor spaces this spring.
