Better Homes and Gardens heads to Daylesford and Taronga Zoo in two new episodes this weekend on Channel 7
Channel 7’s long-running lifestyle program Better Homes and Gardens returns this weekend with a mix of food, DIY, gardening and animal conservation stories across two episodes.
In Friday’s episode, presenter Johanna Griggs travels to Daylesford to meet renowned chef and restaurateur Alla Wolf-Tasker at the Lake House Hotel & Restaurant. The venue is known for its focus on local and seasonal produce, with much of the food sourced from the family-run Dairy Flat Farm nearby.

During the visit, Griggs speaks with Wolf-Tasker about her long-standing focus on local produce and the lessons she has learned during more than 40 years running the dining institution.
Also in the episode, Colin Fassnidge shows viewers how to make homemade fish fingers. His version is served with tartare sauce flavoured with capers, lemon zest and cornichons, alongside mushy peas.
DIY presenter Juliet Love returns with the second part of her renter-friendly bedhead series. After creating a curved fabric headboard using pool noodles last week, she demonstrates a simpler design using off-the-shelf timber and strips of fabric to make a no-sew Scandinavian-style bedhead.
In the garden, Graham Ross shares advice on establishing a meadow-style garden. His segment focuses on which seeds to plant now to create a spring display filled with flowers, bees and butterflies, along with tips for growing plants from seed.
The episode also features two quick “shortcut” segments. Adam Dovile demonstrates a method for finding the centre of a circle for DIY projects, while Charlie Albone offers pruning and trimming advice to help shape plants and improve the overall look of a garden.
Saturday’s episode shifts the focus to wildlife as Dr Harry Cooper visits Taronga Zoo’s Amphibian & Reptile Conservation Centre (ARC). The new conservation facility houses a range of species including the Alligator Snapping Turtle and the critically endangered Corroboree Frog.

Dr Cooper takes a behind-the-scenes look at the centre and the conservation work taking place there.
Food presenter Clarissa Feildel prepares a Thai beef salad, featuring marinated beef strips with lemongrass, garlic and coriander, combined with vegetables, herbs and a lime dressing.
Back in the workshop, Adam Dovile builds a chopping board designed to help move chopped ingredients from the bench to the cooktop without spills.
Charlie Albone also tackles a challenging outdoor space, transforming a concrete patio exposed to wind and sun into a Mediterranean-style garden using pots and hardy plants.
Meanwhile, Melissa King demonstrates how to build a miniature cactus garden using broken terracotta pots to create a layered display.
The episode also includes another quick tip from Juliet Love, who shows how to make citronella candles from recycled jars and glasses to help deter mosquitoes while entertaining outdoors.
Better Homes and Gardens airs 7.00pm Friday, 6 March and Saturday, 7 March on Seven and 7plus.
