Slugs used to eat my strawberries. My friend told me at some point “You don’t need fewer slugs. You need more strawberries”. That made me realize I was wasting time trying to prevent all the slugs.

An owl decoy worked for me last year. I don’t have any trees that feed squirrels so I don’t see many. Make a habit of moving it at least every other day.

Occasional sprinkles of cayenne pepper in the soil has dissuaded most of mine, but I still do spend a certain amount of time jumpscaring squirrels who decide to test their luck when I’m just feet away inside the house.

I lay blackberry vines. It ain’t pretty but it works.

Been at them forever. Using an ultrasonic alarm when they enter my parameter. Been moderately successful. Also movement based sprinkler works for deer too!

I’d get them off the ground. Squirrel damage aside, you’ve laid out a 3-star Michelin dinner for a rabbit. 🙂

A patio table is easier to defend from squirrels with scent repellents and your decoy owl. Getting the owl up higher, where it’s more easily seen, will scare off a wider range of varmints too.

I’m feeding a feral cat in my garden. Hoping he will deter them.

Unrelated, but Bills fan in the South? There are so many of you! I’m a Western NY transplant (not really a Bills fan, though) and I’m always amazed at how many Buffalo fans I see in the wild down here.

Try Covering them with bird netting,

    Go Buffalo

No, because there’s two feet of snow outside.

Someone posted recently that having stocked squirrel and bird feeders help reduce this. I have doubts but I’m thinking about trying it

The only thing that’s kept squirrels at bay for me is having a dog outside as much as possible. Thankfully the dog also has decent prey drive and knows not to trample my beds.

    But more importantly, Go Bills!!
