Sugar River Gardeners of Verona invites you to an exciting evening of floral design and techniques from John Hosek, owner of Surroundings Events and Floral in Verona. The event will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 11 at Lake Ridge Bank, 108 N. Main St., Verona (rear entrance).
According to a news release from the group, Hosek will be designing unique bouquets using spiral and lacing methods. He uses a foliage manipulation technique to weave greens into different structures and fun items.
In addition, he will work with armatures that are used to support floral elements. These armatures could be items from someone’s backyard, such as forsythia branches or red twig dogwood. Many clever and unusual floral techniques will be demonstrated.

John Hosek, AIFD, PFCI, CAFA, CF, MCF, Instructor at Large – Teleflora Corporation, owner of Surroundings Events and Floral in Verona Wisconsin, is known for his innovative and original style of work. John earned his BS from Purdue University with a degree in Supervision and Engineering Graphics.
He first began selling his floral artistry to his fellow team members at General Motors Corporation, where he designed the interiors of the Cadillac brand of vehicles. John’s forward thinking and design talents have placed him on top in numerous competitions throughout the world.
He was a member of the design team for the Oscars annual television awards in Los Angeles for over 10 years. Since 2010, John has introduced new products and techniques to new markets for Fitz Design and Accent Decor, leading hands-on-classes and designing for photo shoots for various print catalogues.
From 2011 to 2023, John has served on the AIFD board of directors to assist the best talent in the world to become an AIFD certified florist.
