If there’s one garden tool that everyone should have, it’s a hosepipe. Whether it’s to water your plants and lawn or clean down dirty patios and decking, it’s a key part of your outdoor kit.
But if you have limited space in your garden or are just sick of constantly unwinding a standard rigid hose, an Expandable Garden Hose is the perfect solution. It takes up minimal space when in storage whilst still expanding to 100ft long, and its flexible design makes it quick and easy to wind and unwind during use.

Currently the Kettoya Expandable Garden Hose is available at Amazon where it’s on sale down from £42.98 to £36.53 for the 100ft/30m option. It’s also available in different lengths ranging from 25ft to 200ft, so you can pick the size you need depending on the size of your outdoor space.
The hose expands by up to three times its size when the tap is turned on, reaching 100ft in length. However once the tap is turned off and the water has drained out, the Expandable Garden Hose retracts back to just 33ft, making it small and compact enough to tuck away into a corner of the garden, or place into a shed or garage without taking up too much space. It even comes with hooks and a storage bag to make it even easier to store it neatly away.

The Expandable Garden Hose is made from a four-layer latex core with a 13-layer knit polyester fabric covering it. This means the hosepipe stays kink-free, tangle-free and is almost impossible to split or crack even with regular use.
It also comes with 3/4″ and 1/2″ premium composite alloy connectors which makes it leak proof, and has a 10–function spray nozzle with an ergonomic handle. The 10 different spray modes work for everything from washing the car to watering plants, hosing off muddy pets and cleaning down surfaces.
You could also snap up the similar 30m Extendable Garden Hose Pipe at Robert Dyas, where it’s on sale down from £37.99 to £27.99. Meanwhile the AquaXhose 15M is now £29.99 down from £39.99 at Coopers of Stortford.
However the Kettoya Expandable Garden Hose has been well praised by Amazon shoppers. One said: “First time user of an expandable hose and found it to be very easy to use. It saves space and time as there is no need to wind the hose up and can be stored easily. The only downside is the time it takes to empty and shrink back to normal size. That surprised me although its no big deal. Overall i’m satisfied with the purchase.”

Some shoppers, however, found the hose didn’t stretch to its fully advertised length. One said: “I was thrilled when this item arrived, looked sturdy and good quality, however it is NOT 50ft long as advertised! So disappointed.”
Whilst another wrote: “I bought this as I have to run a hose through my house. I bought 100ft to easily reach my plants. Even with high pressure water the hose does not go anywhere near 100ft and it is a supreme effort to stretch out to even reach nearer pots. really disappointed as I took ages to choose this. The quality of the product is great expansion capacity not as described. If you choose this product get something twice the length you need.”
However someone else praised the Kettoya Expandable Garden Hose saying: “Very impressed!!! This one is the third hose of this type and mine tend to split in the middle for whatever reason, space restrictions only really let me have these in the garage, anyway after the last one split I looked for heavy duty and this came up, cheaper in green (makes no difference I’m sure) but this hose is twice as thick as all previous ones so hopefully this one will stand the test of time.. so far so good and I’m really impressed with the feel, quality and the metal fittings, great hose gun as well so yes.. A+++ for me.”
Another wrote: “Amazing value, I have had it a year now and still it excellent condition. Its so easy to pop over the fence to water the front garden and fill up water butts. I will definitely be buying a spare. The pressure is excellent and so far its not leaked. I hang it up when I have finished so simple to store.”
