South Puget Sound region here. Got these bad boys at the native plant sale today and the nice lady there suggested that I lay these horizontally in a shallow tray of soil until they “sprout”. I guess that means until they get some green? Never heard this method, I was just going to put em in the dirt but I thought I’d ask here if anyone else has used this method. I’ve read that perennials with long tap roots don’t usually like to be moved too much. Where they will go is in its third year of meadow transformation so the grasses are already pretty established, should I clear a little area around the balsamroot so it gets sufficient light? If I plant this week will one spring worth of rain be enough to get the roots established or are they going to need extra water this summer? They like it dry once they’re established. Also, how do I insert “state/region” into the flair?
