Nuneaton residents have seen their gardens flood with sewage water for the second time this week – and the fifth time this year. CoventryLive previously reported the foul situation being faced by some residents on Heath End Road.
The gardens of their homes were flooded with sewage water on Saturday (February 28), which at that point was the fourth time it had happened so far this year. Now they are dealing with the disgusting mess again this week.
It has led to not only anger but frustration with Severn Trent, who residents claim are not starting works to fix a blockage in a main pipe until Tuesday, March 11.

Among the seven households impacted are an elderly couple in their 80s with health and disability issues and their daughter yesterday (March 3) said: “They’ve now had their fifth flood.
“My mum has been outside in her wellies and face mask trying to disinfect the area – she can’t get to her dustbin nor her mobility scooter which are both kept in the garden as they have no garage.”
She said that Severn Trent did turn up to clean up, but they could not complete it due to the flooding.
“Only standard compensation has been offered, which is a small deduction from their water bills. All other costs, my parents are having to meet themselves,” she said.
The daughter added that Severn Trent have scheduled in remedial works but warned that it may not solve the problem permanently. She also raised concerns about the environmental impact and says she has contacted Nuneaton’s MP and Environmental Health for help.
Severn Trent statement
In a statement, Severn Trent apologised to the residents and confirmed that works to fix the blocked sewer pipe would start on Tuesday, March 11.
It will mean that there will be temporary traffic lights in place. CoventryLive asked how long for and we are awaiting a response.
A Severn Trent spokesperson said: “We completely understand the disruption flooding can cause and want to apologise to residents on Heath End Road who have experienced issues recently.
“The flooding is being caused as a result of a blockage in our pipe and the heavy rain, and we have been using a tanker daily to help relieve the system. We’ll now be starting work on 10th March to resolve this, and to keep our workers and the public safe, we’ll be installing temporary traffic lights while we do that.
“We’ll work as quickly as possible to minimise the impact for our customers, and appreciate the patience of the residents while we complete this work.”
