GARDEN CITY – On February 15, 2026, Garden City Police received a radio call of an alleged animal abuse/shooting investigation in the 5100 block of N Alworth St in Garden City. The caller reported observing a white male in his 50s shoot a cat while it was locked in a cage. Officers responded to the location to begin an investigation into the abuse and discharge of a weapon within city limits. During the investigation, the suspect was identified as George Gebran of Eagle, Idaho. At the conclusion of the investigation, officers obtained probable cause for two violations and requested an arrest warrant be granted for GEBRAN.

 

On February 27, 2026, an arrest warrant was issued for Gebran for one (1) misdemeanor count of Idaho Code 25-3504, Cruelty to Animals, and one (1) misdemeanor count of Garden City Code 4-12-12, Discharge of Firearm and Dischargeable Instruments. As of the time of this press release, authorities have been unable to locate Gebran and arrest him.

 

As with any criminal case, Gebran is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The standard to make an arrest is probable cause, and the standard to convict in court is proof beyond a reasonable doubt. When this incident was reported, we began investigating and gathering evidence as we do with any alleged criminal act. Criminal investigations often take time to meet these legal standards, and we must follow facts to meet these standards and cannot solely rely on information posted to social media.
