KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — After 148 years, Mayo Garden Centers will close its stores.

The family-owned business announced the decision on Facebook, citing changing business conditions and family circumstances. A public closing sale begins March 13.

“We are deeply grateful to the friends and customers who have supported us for generations,” the business posted on Facebook. “While we are sad to see this long chapter come to an end, we hope you will stop by, enjoy the sale, and help us celebrate the many memories made over the years.”

Mayo Garden Centers has two locations, one in Bearden and one in Farragut, but it’s unclear when either store’s final day of business will be.
