“I am keen to focus on horticulture and forestry education and aim to get secondary schools on board to start advocating for careers in these industries.”

These industries are hugely important; without them, vital things like food or medicine would not exist.

There would be no houses or furniture and many modern clothes are made from plant-based fabrics or wood pulp.

The show’s extensive talks and demonstrations will primarily focus on this on the Friday, while on the Saturday it will be more public-orientated.

New attractions this year will include a colourful floral art competition and a pallet garden and container garden challenge that will test visitors.

A willow weaving workshop will give people the opportunity to learn how to make a bird feeder and take it home to place proudly in their gardens.

The area for retailers exhibiting and demonstrating lawnmowers and other machinery has been significantly extended offering visitors more choice.

People will have the opportunity to buy a wide range of quality products made from grown things or their derivatives, in addition to items made to enhance their own gardens.

Visitors can enjoy the engaging workshop from Deeside Willow, and the talks and demonstrations given throughout both days, which will highlight journeys into horticulture and forestry, product development and environmental improvements.

There will be inspiration from the garden designs installed by established professionals and some just beginning their careers. The gardens will be judged before the show opens.
