Gardeners’ World fans were thrilled as presenter Monty Don delivered a significant announcement about the BBC programme’s return.

The 70-year-old host and horticulturalist took to social media this week to reveal that the beloved show will be dropping several new episodes soon.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday (March 4), Monty uploaded a photograph of filming equipment positioned in his garden, where Gardeners’ World is recorded.

He wrote: “First day filming in the garden for new GW series. Only another 50 odd to go!” Confirming the broadcast schedule, the television presenter added: “First program broadcast Friday week, March 13th,” reports the Express.

A fourth fan remarked: “Stupidly excited to watch again,” as another contributor stated: “I can’t wait!! The best show on TV, wish they would run it every week all year round!”

A sixth viewer echoed the sentiment, saying: “I’ve been counting down the days. So glad you’re back,” with another similarly sharing: “I’m sure it’s lots of hard work for you but we absolutely love seeing Longmeadow through the season, so thank you for sharing it last month.”

The long-running gardening programme first aired back in 1968. As well as Monty, other regular presenters include Adam Frost, Frances Tophill, Joe Swift, Arit Anderson, Advolly Richmond, Nick Bailey, Carol Klein, Mark Lane and Rachel de Thame.

This news comes after Monty abruptly paused the BBC programme last month, as he cautioned audiences. With spring approaching, the cherished gardening expert showcased early-season produce, including rhubarb.

Throughout the feature, the star was observed maintaining his garden and harvesting the robust vegetable stems from the ground, whilst disclosing that he’s cultivated his plant for 36 years. Monty proceeded to highlight the risks posed by rhubarb leaves.

As he did so, his charming golden retriever, Ned, made an appearance on screen, whilst the BBC presenter positioned a basket of vegetables behind him.
