Discover how Japanese garden design creates natural calm in the heart of a modern city. Walking through Nakajima Koen in Sapporo, I reveal the timeless principles behind Japanese gardens—and why this 60-year-old garden feels ancient. Learn about shinrin-yoku (forest bathing), the 12 historic stone lanterns, and how these wellness spaces work with your nervous system to reduce stress. Whether you live in a city apartment or have your own yard, these principles are surprisingly portable.

Thank you
I have to say I genuinely feel like I'm learning so much about the design of spaces – inside and out – and how that affects my moods/emotions from your content! Thank you for creating these in the way you do
I love this channel. It is calm, and I learn every single time.
Thank you for sharing
Beautiful garden, and hard to believe some of those trees are only 60 years old! Sounds like Hokkaido is more equivalent to New Hampshire than Buffalo?
