A National Trust garden is allowing visitors to forage for wild garlic.

Prior Park Landscape Garden is opening its gates to food lovers and nature enthusiasts looking to gather wild garlic from March 16 to April 19.

The park, established in the 18th century by local businessman Ralph Allen, will be providing bags, recipe cards, and information on how to forage safely at the visitor reception.

For some, the highlight might be the park’s renowned Palladian bridge, an attraction in its own right given there are only four worldwide.

However, the springtime spectacle of wild garlic covering the woodlands and pathways is expected to attract many from Bath and beyond.

Visitors will be free to roam the gardens, collecting wild garlic to take home and use in their dishes.

Ahead of the event, Susie Meader, visitor operations and experience manager at Prior Park, expressed her delight as the season approaches.

She said: “It’s always a wonderful time of year when wild garlic grows at Prior Park, providing a treat for both the visual and olfactory senses.

“We love to hear what visitors end up making with what they have foraged.”

Wild garlic foraging at Prior Park is free, but standard admission applies.
