Zone 8a. This area stays wet and puddles with rain. It's right by the gate to our backyard so there's always a lot of foot traffic from ourselves and our dogs. Is there anything hardy that could cover this area?
White clover is very tolerant of heavy foot traffic ! However, after preparing the soil and sowing, you will have to exclude that zone until it’s well established before beginning to walk on it again.
Edit : the pooling could be a result of the compaction and the formation of a small dip in that area. You may be able to solve that by slightly decompacting with a fork and raking it smooth to correct the slope before sowing. Hope this helps
