Who: No. 18 St. John’s Red Storm (23-6, 16-2 Big East) vs. Georgetown Hoyas (13-16, 5-13 Big East)
When: Tuesday, March 3, 2026, 7:00 p.m.
Where: Madison Square Garden, New York, New York
Radio: ESPN New York 880 / 1050
Series History: St. John’s leads the all-time series, 70-57. The Red Storm have won ten straight games against the Hoyas, including a 95-83 victory over their long-time rivals in Washington, D.C., earlier this season. In that 12-point win, the Johnnies set a new program Big East record with 15 made three-pointers.
KenPom Predicted Score: St. John’s to win, 81-67 (90% chance of St. John’s win)
Dillon Mitchell (illness) is probable for Tuesday night’s game against Georgetown.
Time to Say Goodbye: St. John’s will pay tribute to six departing seniors on Tuesday night, who account for 51.2 of the Red Storm’s 82.6 points per game, ranking 50th in the country. Among them are Zuby Ejiofor, who leads the team in scoring (15.6), rebounding (7.2), assists (3.6), and blocks (1.9), ranking top-ten among Big East players in all four statistical categories.
Jackson’s Five: Steals, that is. Those were a career-high for the sophomore guard in Saturday’s 89-57 blowout of Villanova. Rick Pitino said after the game that Jackson is steadily improving and is now able to erase his mistakes by forcing turnovers. The Bronx native put up a team-high 19 points off the bench in the win over the Wildcats, his first double-digit scoring effort since January 28 against Butler.
Back (V)in New York: Former St. John’s center Vince Iwuchukwu will play against his former team for the first and likely only time this season. Iwuchukwu served as the backup big for Zuby Ejiofor last season, with only 2.7 points and 1.7 rebounds in 34 appearances for the Johnnies. The last time he was on the Madison Square Garden court was for the Red Storm’s first Big East tournament title win in 25 years.
He’s elevated his play with the Hoyas this season, averaging double-figures in points for the first time in his college career. The 7-foot-1 senior is scoring 11.7 points per game and pulling down 6.0 rebounds per contest in 19 games played and six starts. In his most recent outing against Xavier, he logged 15 points (5-of-6 shooting), six rebounds, and two assists.
Attack Mack: In his second season with the Hoyas, Malik Mack still hasn’t adjusted well to the Big East. He’s second on the team in scoring (13.8 points per game) and leads in assists (4.2), but is on track to shoot 38% or worse from the floor for a second consecutive season. Without leading scorer KJ Lewis (14.9 ppg) around to command the offense, more attention will be paid toward the 6-foot-1 point guard.
Don’t Be Nervous, Be Mulready: Georgetown sophomore Kayvon Mulready stepped up in KJ Lewis’s stead, who suffered a season-ending ankle injury during Hoyas’ February 24 game against Marquette. Mulready scored a team-high 19 points off the bench in a 91-84 loss to Xavier in his last outing on Saturday. The Worcester native is scoring 5.7 points on 46.5% from the field and 41.2% from deep in Big East games this season.
