I got myself this 16×16 shade cloth. It is connected to a pulley system that is cranked up by the crank (green circle). It is pulled from the sides and center of the shade cloth.

My question, how should I go about pulling the other parts (red circle) that is dropping slightly. I could set up more cabling to pull that as well. Was trying to avoid too much cable, but it may be the only way?

Let’s discuss?

Use a pole on the shadecloth edge and attach your ropes to the pole. This will keep it straight to cover the full greenhouse.

Mine is wrapped around the pole at the top and I roll and unroll it via a crank handle with rope attached to the bottom to pull it down but I have high tunnels unlike yours. I used 1 inch EMT for the poles for just shadecloth. We just welded a gear to the emt with a center plug and use a chain loop to the handle which has a similar gear.

Your way is easier on your greenhouse but I do not have a solid structure like yours on the hoops.

On yours I would maybe do it differently as you could use a rollup pipe on the bottom to roll it up on when you wanted to drop it. This would also keep it tighter when it was windy.

Hey, I’m interested in the pulley system. Did you make it or did it come like that?
