While there is still snow on the ground, many of our thoughts have turned to spring and gardening. The Mt. Blue Area Garden Club believes in cultivating the community as well as gardens, and membership and activity are growing! In addition to its Student Scholarship, it is offering its second annual Community Grant to support the gardening efforts of local businesses or non-profit organizations. This year, $500 is available by application for businesses or organizations to beautify their business location or a community space.

The grant is available to any business or non-profit organization doing business in Farmington, Wilton, Chesterville, New Sharon, New Vineyard, Temple, Starks, Vienna, or Weld.

Awards are at the discretion of the Community Grant Committee and may be awarded to one or more applicants. Last year, the Farmington Public Library was the inaugural recipient of the Community Grant.

Newly planted grasses are nestled among the falling leaves getting ready for their long winter’s nap. This and other native plants were planted at the Farmington Public Library in 2025. The Library was the recipient of the Mt. Blue Area Garden Club first annual Community Grant Program award.

Applications are available on the MBAGC website https://mtblueareagardenclub.wordpress.com/apply-for-our-grant/.

Applications may also be received by contacting Community Grants Program chair, Lisa Laflin at lisaparklaflin@gmail.com or by calling or texting (207) 491-5033.

Applications are due by April 1, 2026, and the winner (s) will be announced by May 1, 2026.
