BOLTON — Local gardeners eager to boost their harvest naturally can dig into the art of companion planting during an upcoming program at the Bolton Public Library.

The program, titled “Companion Planting and Design”, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 7, at the library, located at 738 Main St.

Hosted by Blackstone Valley Veggie Gardens, the presentation will explore how pairing certain plants together can improve garden health.

“The presentation will walk gardeners through practical techniques and planning strategies,” said Kate Donovan, owner of Blackstone Valley Veggie Gardens and Garden Consultant.

Participants will learn how to incorporate perennials and self‑seeding plants, create a Zone 6a planting schedule, and boost their harvest through Square Foot Gardening and the traditional Three Sisters method.

The session will also cover herb integration, sample garden layouts, and common plant pairings to avoid.

A Q&A will follow the program.

“The program is designed for home gardeners of all experience levels, from beginners planning their first raised bed to seasoned growers looking to refine their techniques,” Donovan added.
