todays nursery rhyme round n round the garden like a teddy bear one step two step solar panels over there great ramblings as usual you are an inspiration to us all
Have you thought about growing flowers in those veggie beds, cut flowers, you then bunch them up and sell out front. You would be making money and gardening at the same time, perhaps set up a little market stall, selling veggies too. It'll keep you busy in the garden, something you love to do. Maybe you arent allowed to do that in France. I was reading today how much some people make at theirs, this is in America though, some are taking β¬2-3000 per moth and even more.
The garden looks lovely in the sunshine Marc, and it sounds like you have a lot of work ahead of you. At least you'll be getting plenty of vitamin D π Enjoy your mowing and being in the zone. Happy days.
Was it last year you mentioned doing a border to make that bit of garden half the size…? This vlog was very informative. I really liked you talking through all your plants, gives me food for thought.
As for what can you do? Hmm… I think if i was you i would start from the house end (sorting the trailer etc) and working your way back. I would need that area by the house sorted before i started on anything else.
Lavender hedges/borders. Great for wildlife, good in hot/dry conditions, low maintenance, easy propagation so you could buy a few and multiply them up quickly .
Personally Marc, the first priority I would have is loading up your trailer with all the tyres, junk, pots etc and take to the tip. It will vastly improve the lookπ
Shrubs and flowers yes ! If you grow vegetables…only one or two you actually enjoy. How about peonies, hydrangeas, lilacs, forsythis, witch hazel, yellow winter jasmine, buttonbush, rose of sharon ?
Off topic but has anyone who lives in UK and has a house in France been asked lots of personal questions by their French Bank that they have never been asked before , thankyou as dont know where else to ask
You have to grow what likesthe hot weather France gets in the Summer, we have Roses we love them or anything thats good for Butterflies and Bees etc like Lavender
Just a thought from a 'non Gardner' really, it looks to me as if most of your gardening is done il 'straight lines'. Personally I think your garden might be more appealing if some of the beds were curved or round, it would give more interest to me anyway. I know straight is probably easier, but not so aesthetically pleasing to me anyway. Just a thought – your garden looks a lot better than mine I have to say anyway!!! Mike
Why donβt you double the size of the new bed and then make it graduated like a herbaceous border facing your sun terrace . It will look lovely and cover your view of the rubbish bit π€

Lovely video Marc. You certainly seem very happy in the garden. Nothing like a bit of sunshine to revive the spirits!

From memory you can air layer those Red Robin also Marc! Before you decide to trim give it a try on multiple stems β π
πΊ I've learned with my hibiscus that they don't like direct, hot sun πΊ
Could you use the materials from Dave's shelter to house your trailer and new bin on the other side of the fence?

Lavendar, Honeysuckle and Magnolia are some recommendations, lots of fragrance in the evenings.
