ZANESVILLE − Red, White and Bloom is the theme of the annul symposium sponsored by the Muskingum Valley Garden Society. It will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. March 14 at the campus center of Ohio University Zanesville and Zane Stage College, 1425 Newark Road.

Guest speakers include Chris Baker of Baker’s Acres Greenhouse in Alexandria, vice president of Horticulture Andrew Bunting of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, Gale Martin of Natives in Harmony Nursery, state coordinator of the Ohio dragonfly and bee surveys Malia Spring and Dania McGuigan-Alvarado of La Chiquita Selva, a traveling pop-up plant shop.

Registration is $40 in advance or $45 at the door. More information is available at garden society’s Facebook page.

Past projects of the garden society include planting and maintaining hanging baskets on the Y-Bridge and sixth Bridge, along with 180 planters around downtown Zanesville, decorated each holiday season.
