With the official start of spring just weeks away, those of us who are particularly green fingered can hear our garden calling out to us. The sunshine attempting to push through the clouds this weekend has certainly encouraged those with an outdoor space to get the tools out and give it a good spruce.

One thing that often hinders the look of our garden, however, is lack of storage for things such as shovels, trimmers, secateurs, lawnmowers and even garden furniture, making us settle for items we must store inside – or leave them out and about. But we’ve spotted a deal on Amazon that sees £35 knocked off a storage shed with a 1200L capacity.

Measuring at 145.5 x 82 x 123 cm externally and 132 x 76 x 110 cm internally, the Keter Store It Out Pro Outdoor Storage Shed usually retails at £170, but it’s now on sale for £135 – a reduction that has it ‘selling fast’ on the website.

Available at this discounted price in the beige and brown hue, the storage shed is aesthetically pleasing with its wood effect panels and piston-assisted lid. Crafted with a heavy duty floor, it can easily store equipment and tools, and can be opened both from the top and the front (doors that are lockable, too, for added safety).

Made from plastic, it should be relatively durable and is ideal for keeping contents dry and ventilated, which means cushions for furniture and any electrical equipment shouldn’t get damaged when needing to stow away for rainier weather.

One thing to note, however, is this particular storage solution isn’t the most compact and potentially requires a larger garden. For those who need something a little smaller, the Outsunny outdoor storage box from Wayfair, £80.99, measures at 110L x 50W x 50H cm, meaning it’s not quite so tall and can easily be used as additional seating for guests in the summer.

Similarly, the Keter Signature Storage Bench in Oak has more of a typical, wooden bench design with arms and a back, making it bit more of a storage box in disguise. At £145, measures at H89, W132.1, D61.2cm, whilst its internal storage size is H38, W126, D52cm.

Although the Store It Out Pro Outdoor Storage Shed at Amazon has received over 9,000 reviews and an impressive 4.5 star-rating, showcase its quality, with one person sharing their experience: “Easy to assemble – even for 1 person. Waterproof and durable. So good I purchased another one. The top and front opening options are great. It works as a really handy outside store for me.”

Another raved: “Wow there is a lot of space. I have quite a large shed/workshop but things are always on the floor getting in my way, enough was enough so I decided to get this storage unit to put by the side of my shed. Now my wife’s glazed planters will go in there, snow shovels, 80 million plastic buckets (not really but they seem to be that number) grass seed, fertiliser, bird feeders, 5 brushes, boxes of stuff on the floor – and that’s not including the shelf space I will be making.”

Their one gripe is that the box doesn’t come with a shelf – as the pictures may indicate. They said: “These units don’t come with a shelf, I did check as it appears as if they do in the picture, but, read the item description and it clearly states that ‘shelf supports are provided’. I have some wood in the shed and made a shelf to fit.”

Someone else wrote: “Really pleased with this outdoor cupboard. I had this professionally built and so i cannot say how easy it is to build but waterproof, durable and with plenty of space. I managed to fit a wheelchair, standing fan, garden sheers, hedge trimmers and another waist height room cooling fan in and still room for cushions. The lid is on gas lift glides, either side, so it seamlessly takes off as you open the lid and any rain water rolls off the back.”

One overwhelming issue many people faced was that it didn’t seem as easy to put together as it looks, with one three-star shopper citing: “More difficult to put together than expected. The metal bar was too long and had to be manually shortened with a hacksaw. I expected better quality from Keter.”

Another user added: “It takes about three and a half hours to put this together. The holes are not pre-drilled so you have to do this yourself and then put the screws in.”
