Grey nomading definitely threw us a curveball on this leg of the journey. While travelling from Alice Springs to Melbourne, we made the big decision to trade our caravan on the road. Once back in Melbourne, we somehow juggled unpacking the entire van into a shipping container at a caravan storage yard, giving it a full clean and prep for trade — all while house-sitting 60 minutes away. It was a week of early starts, long drives, dusty shoes and organised chaos, but it’s proof that nomad life isn’t always beaches and sunsets. Sometimes it’s logistics, flexibility, and making big decisions work wherever you happen to be parked.

We are Bec and Ed, from Aussie Nomad Destinations, we are traveling around Australia in our Jayco Silverline Outback Caravan and Next Gen Ford Ranger, and we have been travelling now for two years.
Are we grey nomads?
You bet we are, we have now been doing the lap for two years, fulltime camping, mostly offgrid, in lost cost-free campground, National Parks, and budget campgrounds as we caravan Australia, we love to do bush walks and hikes, fishing and crabbing where possible,
But most of all we love to beach camp, we just love a beach front National Park, we will see the best places to visit in Australia, give you caravan tips and tricks, all while we show you, grey nomads how we caravan Australia and our camping adventures, and hope it helps you as grey nomads caravanning Australia, and caravanning Australia fulltime,
Stay Happy.

Camping in Australia as a grey nomad is a journey through a vast and diverse landscape that never fails to captivate the soul. Setting off in a trusty camper van or towing a caravan, grey nomads traverse rugged outback terrains, lush rainforests, and sun-kissed coastal stretches, each offering its own unique charm. The freedom of the open road beckons, with countless camping spots nestled along the way, from designated campgrounds with modern facilities to remote bush sites under a blanket of stars. As the sun dips below the horizon, gathering around a crackling campfire becomes a cherished ritual, sharing stories and laughter with fellow travellers or simply relishing the serenity of nature’s embrace. With every dawn, there’s a new adventure awaiting, whether it’s exploring ancient Aboriginal rock art, spotting native wildlife in their natural habitats, or simply basking in the tranquillity of untouched landscapes. Camping as a grey nomad in Australia is not just a journey; it’s a lifestyle of discovery, connection, and endless possibilities.

Wow that’s great about the caravan just a shame you were so far up SA. I got to see a little bit of SA in Oct Nov still heaps to see. SA is so different than Vic and NSW so looks like I’ll have to try and get there again one day. Have to go to Qld too. Gee I love Australia and travelling.
Glad everything worked out, sounds like a logistic nightmare! ❤❤
Glad to hear yo are getting a new van after the flood issues with your current one. Let's hope there are no issues with the new one. It's lovely to see everything looking so green. That was a beautiful sunset, and the scenery was lovely. Thanks Bec.
