Now that spring is nearly here parks and gardens are beginning to bloom with life. As we enter the start of the new season one garden in Greater Manchester is offering £1 entry for one week only next month as part of the National Lottery Open Week.
RHS Garden Bridgewater is taking part in the scheme, and from March 7 to March 14, anyone presenting a National Lottery ticket, Scratchcard or Instant Win game – digital or physical – can enjoy £1 entry per person for up to four people. The offer is part of the National Lottery’s annual thank‑you to players who raise £30 million each week for good causes across the UK.
As well as RHS Garden Bridgewater, the offer is also available at all five RHS Gardens nationwide: RHS Harlow Carr (Yorkshire), RHS Hyde Hall (Essex), RHS Rosemoor (Devon) and RHS Wisley (Surrey). It’s a huge saving as entry to RHS Garden Bridgewater usually costs £13.25 for pre-booked online adult tickets, £17.80 for adult tickets at the gate, and £5 for children aged five to 16 years. Entry is free for RHS members.

Located in Worsley, Salford, RHS Garden Bridgwater is the newest RHS garden, having opened in 2021. The 154-acre site was developed at the grounds of the former Worsley New Hall and was one of the largest horticultural projects undertaken in Europe in recent years.

It features beautifully designed formal gardens, including the Weston Walled Garden, which is one of the largest in the UK. There are also areas of woodland to explore and a lake you can walk around.
Thanks to recent mild temperatures spring has arrived quickly at the RHS Gardens with bursts of colour making an appearance from luscious yellow daffodils to snowdrops, magnificent magnolias and early blossom. It’s the ideal spot for a relaxing walk this spring.
Young visitors can also join Mr Toad, Ratty, Mole and Badger at each garden for a brand-new interactive garden trail, based on the well-loved book The Wind in the Willows. The adventurous routes explore iconic sights and bring plenty of storybook magic using the rich, nature-based world of The Wind in the Willows to spark curiosity about wildlife, habitats, and the importance of protecting the natural environment.
The National Lottery Heritage Fund has supported the RHS Gardens in many important ways, including free gardening activities and events in local communities. The restoration of the historic laboratory at RHS Wisley and the creation of a centre for horticultural science and learning were also made possible via a grant from the Fund.
