Hi, we moved into our new flat in qld and this area was utterly abandoned. This place was a washing line space for us and an placed right next to our entry which brought so many cane toads and snake.
ATM i only have battery powered whipsnipper and spent few hours this weekend try to remove everything but no luck – let me know if chemical is an option here. result is on next slide. How should I make this space better? I am totally new to lawn I’ve lived in apartment me whole life.
All I have is whipsnip, shovel and mini shovel. I tried to pull out the thick grass but far out they were deep penetrated to the ground. Also the dead grass were every and I hand picked my self (maybe can get a rake), the pile it shows. Let me know what is a good tip for me yall experts 🙏🙏 and deep inside this space still got like the whole deck behind to destroy let me know cheap option (i’m not gonna hire landscaper for a rental space)
Cheers

Quite honestly?
Hire a few goats.
Remember if you chemical, you risk poisoning the soil underneath, not ideal. I think you’ve made a good effort for one day and remember, over winter, the growth will slow down and be easier to maintain once you get on top of it. As much as it is generous of you to attempt to make the space better, please don’t put yourself too out of pocket for it. What you may see as a gorgeous space with carefully planted plants, a landlord might expect you to strip out on vacation. So if you move in and it is grass, it stays grass. If you want to grow things, do it in pots that can you with you and you can control the soil. You have no idea what has been poured into that soil over time, so be wary of planting and eating anything.
It doesn’t look like you can spot spray weeds in this jungle so spraying Chemicals broadly will mean you have to plant something in the whole area you treat, either grass seed, or plants/mulch, it will take a awhile to recover and be ready to be maintained/walked on.
what’s your plan in the long run? if it’s just to have grass grow there then you only need to pull the woody or non-grass species weeds and then maintain it.
If you’re on a budget, borrow or hire a lawn mower set it to its lowest setting mow as low as-possible. Pull/dig up the weeds that aren’t grass and seed with some grass mix in the places where there’s no grass. Regularly maintain the grass level with the whippersnipper or borrow, buy, hire a lawnmower.
You need to hire some goats
Whipper snipper the lawn & pressure wash tge stencilled concrete. Simple job
Geofabric and pepples. Make sure you have a slope away from house though
Just buy a lawnmower off of marketplace. Sell it for the same amount when you move out.
