Grew this pilea from a single leaf! First 2 pics are of it today, the rest are the prop progress in order.
I took a damaged leaf from a friend's plant, making sure to get a little bit of the stem on the end of the petiole when I cut it, so it would have undifferentiated cells to regenerate a new plant from.
I put it in water for a few weeks until roots began to form. Then I moved it to a semi-hydroponic setup with pumice until I saw roots coming out the side of the mesh pot. When I took it out to check, it had the stem of a new plant growing!
I repotted it into a 2" pot, and it has been taking off! The new leaves are almost as large as the original one it regenerated from!
