This is my first time doing any type of gardening ever and I'm having a riot!

Original post: https://www.reddit.com/r/NoLawns/comments/1raowxu/finally_bought_our_first_home_in_2025_not/

So I turned over the grass (rip crocuses), and overseeded with clover! Turns out I unintentionally used white clover seeds instead of microclover so this strip is about to get taaaaaall, but fuck it, the bees will love it.

I've planted a lot of bulbs, more than is visible in the photo (I sneaked in some allium even though my partner said he didn't like them, can't wait for that prank to bear fruit 😎), and I'm going to start concentrating more on native flowers as was recommend to me. I'm also going to go out and sow some wildflower seeds come Aprilβ€”do I just like, toss them around? Is there a technique?

As you can see from the last photo, all the seeds are germinating, but I was wondering if anybody can tell me why they all look like spaghetti? Is it normal that they're all gravitating towards that one spot?

Also, will the wildflowers be able to compete with the clover if it gets really tall?

Thanks for all the advice so far by the way, I'm having an absolute riot. I can't wait to see what it looks like in two months.

From the photo, it doesn’t look like you’re in the U.S., but maybe you have some sort of wildlife garden certification program? If so, you can pay a nominal fee, and they’ll send you a sign so that you can post it and brag about your grass strip. Here’s what I did – [https://naba.org/butterfly-gardens/certification-program/](https://naba.org/butterfly-gardens/certification-program/)
