I just brought her home about a month ago, and she’s already being super dramatic and droopy so a I’ve given her a good drink.

But now I’m wondering, could she already be too big for her pot? Is she root-bound or getting crowded in there?

  1. My peace lillies are super sulky the moment they’re thirsty. If I water any less than twice a week they dramatically droop.

She will grow to the size of the pot. Just water her deeply and she will perk up relatively quickly.

Mine gets sulky if I don’t add plant food to the water on the regular.

Could be getting a bit too big for her pot. You can divide these easily and end up with lots more. Mine get a deep drink under the shower once a week and a liquid feed once a month. Lots of flowers, too.

Two really handy tricks for these guys is to bottom water them, and to use filtered water.

Watering from the bottom is when you sit it in a bucket of water (water level at about two thirds of the height of the pot) and just let her soak. Spa treatment style. After like 20 min or so pull her out, let her drain and then return to her spot. It’ll help the soil hold more moisture for longer closer to where it’s needed. I find I water mine less frequently like this.

The other one is using filtered water. Sounds posh but it’s just water from my filter jug. Where I am (Brisbane) the water is crazy hard and lilies can be a bit special about minerals in their soil, they get brown leaf tips if I use tap. You can use rainwater too if you have a tank.
