Hello all,
I am looking for some smart suggestions for giving a backyard some more privacy.
What recommendations do you have for a long-term solution for this yard?
What steps do I take to properly get this done?
What resources and professionals should I be aware about?
Any ideas on cost?
There is about 9ft of clearance on the side with a patio and 14ft on the side without a patio.
Thank you so much for any insight.

Do you want trees and plants? My gf is a landscape architect and that’s kinda what they do, look at the property and determine tasteful way to accomplish your goal. I would start by calling one up at a landscaping company.
You should plant clusters of plants , different textures, and layer them so you dont look like your just creating another fence but with trees. Also, underplant the shade areas under the trees in the back with shade loving evergreens and deciduous shrubs. Cant recommend specific ones because I cant tell what part of the country you are in. Also, on the sides of the decks, it could be nice to plant around the deck with a taller shrub to give you privacy when your out there. Maybe a shade tree on the right side of the deck to shade the deck. Decks get very hot in the summer. Maybe even an island type planting not centered and little more back on the right side to make the yard assymentrical. Could put a path through it and over it. Breaking up the obvious rectangle of the yard and giving people an interesting place to check out makes the landscape a lot more interesting. Also consider line of site planting where you plant something , an 8 ft bush, or a tree, to block someones window in the distance, or their view of you coming out your door. That way you feel like you have privacy without really closing everything out. And dont forget to actually plant some things that you like yourself, or remember from your childhood so the yard takes on a personal atmosphere.
