I have been propagating these clippings of my snake plant for about a week. Some of the bottoms have gone mushy… I did add a small amount of root hormone. What did I do wrong?
Cut the part that is mushy…let the healthy part sit on table to air dry …. the wound caused by cutting would be dried by then
Then put it in water …and propagate

You’ll wanna cut off the mushy part and let the cutting dry out for a day or two before putting it back in water. It’ll take a few months to grow roots that are ready for soil

Stop propagating snakes in water people. A tote with moist pearlite and a lid and good lighting is all that is needed for a near 100% success every time. Roots in less than a month easily.
