Hey! A colleague gave me a bud ~1,5 months ago (second picture). I never had a succulent bevor and wanted to give him a chance. I thought he would be more 'succulent like' if that makes sense, but he is just growing and gaining height! Interested to see where he is going with this, are there any things I need to consider or watch out for? I don't even know what kind he is ^^'
(After browsing this sub I for a bit I feel like I need to go to the next gardening center, your succulents look fabulous!)

This is a sempervivum or hen and chicks. They need to be outdoors. What happened is he is stretching for light, that’s why the new growth is so light green, the leaves are stretched further apart instead of compact, and it’s tilting like that.

If you want to get into succulents indoors, I highly recommend a good grow light.

Commenter above has already mentioned light, but you also need to amend the soil to be more !gritty, and use a smaller pot. I’m also linking the !sempervivum and !beginner bots to make sure you’ve got all basics.

After that, of course keep asking questions.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news… as mentioned below the plant needs more lights (they are outdoors and cold-hardy) and a different, more gritty and less compact soil. Sempervivums should look compact when in the right conditions. I love you’re excitement and I’m sure that you’re gonna start a little collection like all of us did, but you need to understand the basics first, it’s gonna help you a lot from now on
