I bought one of these at my local super markets a while back however wasn’t educated enough and the plans quickly died off. If I remove the dead plant matter, will I be able to restart this terrarium with new plants while still having the old soil in? And with that do you guys have any recommendations for plants? Appreciate any help!

I’ve used that type of moss behind from Home Depot, they literally color/dye the pre-dead moss green killing any plant you put near it, also you can turn it into a new terrarium
You can reuse the old false bottom and soil layer. I might just mix in some shredded spaghnum moss for moisture and aeration mixed in the soil and replant with easy plants like fittonia, button fern, and creeping fig for example. Maybe add some rock or hardscape too. Your imagination is the limit
