Just getting into Bonsai and have been eyeing this guy on one of my regular dog walking routes. Its been growing through the rocks and cut back many times. Trunk is about an inch and a half, and got to keep a decent amount of roots!
I think it's either a red osier dogwood or a red alder, but I'll know more when it leafs out.
One question though, should I wait till spring to prune it or do the major cuts now? The buds are just swelling. Sugestions and tips welcome!

It really depends on the tree. Don’t quote me on this but yamadori can be very hit or miss and some give them 2-3 years to settle before even touching them in any way after bringing them in. Really depends on the plant and its age.
