I had great success propagating burros tail from leaves and saw the mother leaves were still healthy and wondered if they can re-propagate. Well a short while later (~2 weeks) they have tiny babies and roots again, so not only do I get a whole new plant, but I can also reuse leaves and get a second baby ❤️

So you split the mother leaf off the baby when it is formed? Would be awesome for species with bigger and more nutritionally expensive leaves.

You don’t even have to remove it. I frequently get multiple pups just by letting the leaves root directly on soil, and starting normal succulent-watering protocols once they have roots.

7 of the 8 specimens here are all multiple pups from single leaves, some of which are still healthy and plump. (The 8th, top-center, is still rooting.) And all from different species…three different echeverias, a graptoveria (I think), three types of crassula, and a mystery pachy-something.

The common misconception which prevents a lot of people from getting these results is the idea that you “should” let the parent leaf get consumed before potting/watering. You *can* do that, not “should” if you want lush results.
