Fire crews were called to a garden fire in Stoke-on-Trent yesterday following reports of a conifer set alight.
Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service are now reminding people to “take care when burning waste” after crews were called at 11.50am on Wednesday 25 February to Ruxley Road in Bucknall.
The service explained that one appliance attended the scene and extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet.
Nobody was reported injured.
Watch Manager Tom Harrison, who attended the scene, said: “This fire was caused accidentally, by a brazier being too close to overhanging trees and fence panels.
“There was also too much rubbish in the brazier, which led to the fire growing and becoming out of control.
“I would like to remind residents to avoid burning rubbish in the garden and take it to the tip wherever possible.”
