A few years ago my aunt found out she was dying. she would call and text me about the sunflowers in her yard and how beautiful they were. they brought her peace in moments she was full of pain and worry. the next growing season I had thrown a bunch of wildflower seeds in my yard and a bunch of very beautiful sunflowers popped up. I had never seen a sunflower grow before. they were beautiful. ever since, I am in my garden planting sunflowers keeping them safe from damn Japanese beetles. last year's sunflowers were so big it was amazing. the energy from them is so strong I remember feeling like I could feel them vibrating. now, they are little burnt stalks waiting to be cut down for this growing season. I hope to have a good year without swarms of Japanese beetles.
